We recognize the value of our staff and provide personal and professional support throughout their career here at Aucklands.

To ensure the safety of our residents and staff we carry out robust recruitment checks and provide a full 13 week induction to the home. During this time staff are trained by our in house trainers and also by external organisations to ensure that their role is fully understood and they feel confident in their role.

Due to the high level of dementia some of our residents are diagnosed with, staff are trained in safe hold techniques to help support these more vulnerable residents.

We support staff to complete Diplomas and other qualifications, including all mandatory training, and encourage career development. Our staff champions may receive specific training to their role, for example wound care, in order that they can cascade the training they have received to other staff and provide specialist care to our residents.

We have a key worker system in place which enables our residents and their friends and families to have extra, and more personal, support.

As care is a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week profession, our shift pattern reflects this and staff are expected to work some evenings and some weekends. We offer a very competitive rate of pay and staff are entitled to 5.6 weeks a year annual leave.
